Source of the Nile Hotel
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean.
A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar.
The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. She packed her seven versalia, put her initial into the belt and made herself on the way. When she reached the first hills of the Italic Mountains, she had a last view back on the skyline of her hometown Bookmarksgrove, the headline of Alphabet Village and the subline of her own road, the Line Lane.

Jinja
Jinja is located at the northern end on Lake Victoria in South Eastern Uganda. Lying just north of the Equator, but at an altitude of 3,750 feet (1100 meters) above sea level, it enjoys a very pleasant climate with temperatures ranging from 63 to 82 degrees F.
Jinja is spread out with few high-rise buildings outside city center. It retains a much more ‘laid-back’ feel, relative to the nearby capital of Uganda, Kampala and is currently undergoing major renovation – like construction of new tourist hotels and discovery of more new tourist adventure sites and activities.
As you approach Jinja from Kampala, the district’s most significant geographical feature is immediately obvious. Jinja 'Town' is situated on the east bank of the River Nile, where the longest river in the World, the Nile starts its 6,670 km journey from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea. On a day off from the traffic and congestion of Kampala, the drive to Jinja passes through interesting parts of Uganda with small townships, farmland, Mabira Forest, tea & sugarcane plantations.
You cross the Nile at the Owens Falls Dam (completed in 1954) and will find Jinja a laid-back contrast to Kampala – a very friendly place with a focus on tourism and welcoming hospitality.
Tourism is providing a new impetus to Jinja’s economy. Good accommodation, a peaceful laid-back friendly atmosphere, warm weather all year round (almost on the equator but 1150 above sea level makes up a very pleasant climate), features of natural beauty including lake views and the ‘Source of the Nile, plus lots of things to do in the near vicinity such as the adventure activities at Bujagali Falls; these are all elements that are contributing to Jinja’s growing popularity as a tourist destination.
With general views of the Lake Victoria in the background, the lush vegetation, roaring sounds of the flowing River Nile, friendly and welcoming people, a rich culture background, its really the best adventure capital of East Africa.
Things To Do
Outdoor enthusiasts, adventure seekers, nature lovers, history buffs, and cultural aficionados will be enthralled with the charming Nile River town of Jinja. It is a place where the warmth and hospitality of the people make you feel at home. A stroll through the town reveals shaded, quiet roadways lined with rural markets, colonial-era architecture, craft shops, affordable eateries, and quaint houses, all of which tell a part of the town’s story.
A stone monument outside town marks the point where the Nile River begins its three-month journey to the Mediterranean Sea, around 6,670 km away. Here the waters are quite tranquil, but just below the outlet, the power of the Nile erupts into a cascade of 1 million liters of water per second. This section of the Nile River is renowned as one of the best whitewater rafting destinations in the world, and our guests agree. The activity can be customized to your personal comfort and desires, ranging from short excursions to multi-day adventures. Couple this with a bungee jump over the river and you will be in adventure heaven. If the intense main rapids are too extreme, we recommend kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and river swimming on some of the calmer sections of the river.
Although Jinja is primarily known for high-energy safari holidays in Uganda, nature lovers and birders have plenty of opportunities to relax and take in the scenery. You can experience locations rarely seen by taking a quad biking tour along the river. These rides are tailored to the riders’ experience level, from beginner to expert. Should you be traveling solo, we can even arrange a private ride for just you. Another incredible way to see the ecosystem along the Nile River is by horseback. The panoramic views are stunning on the trails, and you will even meet some of the locals.
